Dr. Jagdish Chander Suri

Dr. J.C. Suri is one of India’s most distinguished Pulmonologists, Critical Care Specialists, and Sleep Medicine experts, with more than 40 years of clinical, academic, and leadership experience. He is the former Head of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, and a Past President of the Association of Chest Physicians of India. Widely recognised as a pioneer in respiratory medicine, Dr. Suri has played a transformative role in advancing pulmonary care, critical care medicine, and sleep medicine in India.

A visionary clinician and academician, Dr. Suri was instrumental in establishing India’s first dedicated Obstetric & Gynaecology Critical Care Unit at Safdarjung Hospital for managing high-risk maternal conditions such as peripartum cardiomyopathy, severe preeclampsia, acute pulmonary embolism, sepsis, and respiratory failure. He has also received advanced international training in Critical Care Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center, USA, and Sleep Medicine at the prestigious Stanford University Sleep Center, California, USA, as a WHO Fellow. With more than 100 scientific publications, numerous national healthcare contributions, and several prestigious orations and awards, Dr. Suri is regarded as one of the country’s leading authorities in respiratory and critical care medicine.
