Dr. Rita Arun Mhaskar

Dr. Rita Arun Mhaskar is one of India’s leading Gynecological Endoscopic, Laparoscopic, and Robotic Surgeons, with over 40 years of experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. An alumna of the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, she completed both her MBBS and MD in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at AIIMS before earning her DNB, FRCOG (UK), and Fellowship in Robotic Surgery. Throughout her distinguished career, she has served as Professor and Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at St. John’s Medical College, Bengaluru, where she played a significant role in training future generations of gynecologists while advancing minimally invasive gynecological surgery.

A pioneer in laparoscopic surgery, Dr. Mhaskar began performing minimally invasive gynecological procedures soon after laparoscopic surgery was introduced in the mid-1990s. Since then, she has successfully performed over 3,000 laparoscopic surgeries, including complex hysterectomies, myomectomies, ovarian cystectomies, and advanced reconstructive procedures. She has particular expertise in managing endometriosis, complex gynecological conditions, and congenital differences in sex development (intersex variations). Known for combining exceptional surgical expertise with compassionate patient care, she believes in offering women safer procedures, smaller incisions, quicker recovery, and improved quality of life through advanced minimally invasive surgery.
